Danish Christmas is a very traditional affair. Danes love their Christmas and like to surround themselves with pixies and gnomes of all descriptions ! In Denmark pixies are called "Nisser".
Nisser have to be taken quite seriously you understand, and have to be looked after well and spoken about nicely ! They generally live in your loft or outhouse and they can't help it, but it is in their nature to get up to mischief ! They are only small, but they can really cause havvoc if they want to ! however, if you are really nice to them, they will help you have a most wonderful Christmas !
We have the loveliest Nisser imaginable for you ! The "Frigast Nisser" have become collectors items in Denmark and many parts of the world.
Birgitte Frigast designs every face herself, and with the help of a doll sculptor, creates the final look. The personality and clothes of the nisse is also designed by Birgitte Frigast, down to the very last detail. There is nothing left to chance in the production process. Everything is checked, from the initial stages until the nisse is finished and has "come to life! All figures undergo rigorous quality control to make sure that every single nisse is a top quality product.
The porcelain, which the head, hands and feet are made from, is of a quality normally only used by the likes of Royal Copenhagen. The porcelain mould is only used 30 times, after which time it is discarded and replaced by a new one. This means that the dolls always have 100% perfect features.
After glazing, the porcelain is fired three times to ensure colour-fastness and prevent fading.
The clothes, which are modelled on traditional danish folklore, are pretty much tailor-made. No skimping on materials or cutting corners in the sewing process. A lot of handiwork goes into every single figure, in addition to the exclusive sewing process.
All of our figures come in a beautiful gift-box which is not only attractive packaging, but also offers optimum protection and provide the nisser with a good resting place when not on display.
