Speciality Framing

An unusual request from a client several years ago led us to explore, and then master, techniques for displaying soccer and rugby shirts and other sporting mementos in frames or cabinets. This has become one of our main specialities.

Do you have a cricket bat or a golfing iron that you would like to preserve behind glass? Bring it to Shanti and we will create a fitting display for it. Needless to say what can be done for sporting items can also be done for military memorabilia, theatrical costumes, botanical specimens, first editions, and countless other categories of personal treasure.

Whatever you are most proud of, bring it to Shanti for a custom-made display case.  Two of our other great specialities are the staining of barewood mouldings, and our in-house gold and silver leafing service.

This is an example of a framed sports shirt. We make a colour coordinated box frame (usually 3 colours), starting with the board onto which the shirt is hand stitched. The frame itself is painted in Plaka paint (in this case maroon) which is then buffed to a silksheen, as is the fillet in the wall of the frame (in this case gold)

This size costs £ 200. If the shirt is folded in half, or indeed is extra large (jumbo), the prize varies.

Here, a programme has been inserted in the mount as well. Some clients want a pair of socks, a cap, a medal or such like included. Extras like these, add on a bit to the final price. You are naturally consulted every step of the way !
